Applications
Silicon favors graphitization of the foundry carbon. It deoxidizes the iron and acts as an inoculant, refining and orienting the precipitation of the graphite, which improves the mechanical characteristics of the pieces, avoiding blanching at the corners of the pieces.
It is incorporated into the molten metal. The presence of Zirconium is important to neutralize Nitrogen in pieces with a large number of males.
