Applications
Silicon favors graphitization of the foundry carbon. It deoxidizes the iron and acts as an inoculant, refining and orienting the precipitation of the graphite, which improves the mechanical characteristics of the pieces, avoiding blanching at the corners of the pieces.
It is incorporated into the molten metal. The size in stone is used especially to reach the percentage of Silicon that the base metal requires.
